Yes I did ....

Well I did it today.  I finally pulled that little stunt that I had
heard about some time ago.  We've all done it, especially the
housewives.  Not that I'm being sexist or anything, just that I
feel they are more prone to be in a position to do it more than
us guys.  Then again maybe us men would be more liable to
try it than a woman.  I'm going to stop here before I dig this hole
any deeper than it needs to be.
So today was a lazy day,  Took my wife out for breakfast and
after a quick stop at Wally World for paint we came home to
putter around the yard and enjoy the weather.  Moved some
flowers... painted some planters hosed off the porch and such.
Just general puttering.  I then decided that the boat need some
puttering also as she retired to the inside for an ice tea break I
headed down to the carport.
Now if you have ever seen swallows build a nest you know
what a messy situation that is.  Besides the grass and straw
there is some sort of secretion that they use to bind
the nest together.  I'm not sure what this substance is and I really
don't want to know but rest assured it makes a mess.  Well a pair
had decided the perfect place for a nest was on the light directly
over my boat.  This is NOT going to happen !  So before they
got too far along  I took down the startings of the nest and cleaned
the light fixture so as to discourage other 'couples' from building.
The boat was already a mess.. grass clippings everywhere,  the
aforementioned grass glue secretion and such all through the carpeting.
So with whisk broom at hand I managed to clean up the bulk of the mess
and  wipe down the motor and such.  For a finial clean-up I use
my trusty Dirt Devil hand vac which usually does an adequate job.
As I was cleaning the carpet of feathers, lint, fishing line and such
it happened !!  That one small white ball of lint on the dark blue carpet.
Just an inch from the edge, right near the trolling motor pedal.
You know the one,  the one you run over ten or fifteen times and it
refuses to be picked up.  You go slow, you go different directions and
nothing seems to work.  It simply refuses entry into the cleaner.
Finally.. when all else fails and your arm is getting tired you reach
down with your other hand and pick it up.  Now !  The smart thing to do
would be to throw it out of the boat and be done.   But NOOO..you know
what I did because you have done it yourself.  I placed it back down in the
boat to give the vac one more chance to pick it up !  So I guess today I
joined the ranks of that group of people I won't mention who do the same
thing over and over and expect different results.
After a short break I think I'll go back down and have another go at it.  This
time I'm takin' the Hoover !!!
