before I even get out of bed. It's an exercise to get
my brain sort of loosened up, lubricated and ready
for the day. No.. it doesn't always work but my
brain can be a bit 'hard starting' and any little jump
start can only help.
This morning I had a long talk with my body
shortly after waking up. The sun was coming up
and the skies looked clear so I explained to it that
I was going to put it through a test today. I
explained that I would feed it well and dress
it up real warm but I was going to expect a full
day of work out of it . As I remember it kind of shuddered under the covers and
sent a couple of signal pains up through my body just to let me know it was
listening. So with daylight burning I jumped up, made a large bowl of toasty hot
oatmeal, got dressed being sure to include my softest warmest thermals and sat
down to a good hot cup of Joe ! Ahh this day is starting out just fine.
THEN It happened. I pulled on my coat and hat and headed out the door.
There was wood to be split, branches to be cleaned from the yard, and a lot of
general picking-up to be done. As I went up to get the trash can from last nights
pick -up I noticed a bone chilling wind blowing from the west.(I thought the
west was supposed to be warmer) Now anybody that knows me knows that if
there is one thing I can not stand it's wind, especially cold wind.
As I wheeled the can back down the driveway, which is a natural wind tunnel
that runs straight from the north pole to the south pole, the wind bit my ears and
nibbled lightly on my nose. Not enough to cause true pain but enough to let me
know I wasn't going to spend any more time outside today than necessary.
So here I set. In front of this keyboard tippity tappin' away, wasting time
just like every other day. Oh I'm sure my body doesn't mind that I never kept
my word but there will be other days and it will get it's turn. In retrospect it
turned out to be a wise decision because as I look out the window I see a total
white -out with winds equal to the jet wash off of a F 16.
I think that calls for another pot of coffee ! {_}?
