Second fiddle...

   I know that a lot of singers have done it.
Especially in the country , gospel and Bluegrass
but like everything else in my life (except
sports) I have my favorites.  I'm talking about
back-up singers.  My number one pick would be
Allison Krause (Union Station).  I do believe the
girl could sing a phone book and make it sound good.
And although the group has many hits I'm always
amazed to see her singing back-up on so many videos
and records.. true pure talent.  Next would be Vince Gill
Fantastic singer, songwriter and instrumentalist but has
also sang backup on many many other recordings and
can be seen playing base behind many country stars in
their videos.  I guess it takes a true love of music to
stay involved at any level.  My third favorite is a little
known backup singer named Carmella Ramsey. I first
noticed her singing back-up on almost all of Patty
Loveless's videos.  Excellent fiddle player and outstanding
vocalist.  Sings  beautiful harmony and is just about as
sexy as a Bluegrass fiddle player can be.  I think what I
like most about Carmella is her attitude ok (second most)
thing..lol Very unassuming performs her part then melts
into the background . very classy and content with singing
back-up
  I'll include a couple links to examples.. I realize Not
everybody is fond of twangy country and bluegrass music
so maybe I'll throw in one of Alison and Robert Plant to
even things up.. she's no rocker but just shows her adaptability.

Ok.. If you made it through a couple of those maybe I can
convince you check out a Union Station instrumental featuring
a very young Sierra  Hull.  Bluegrass at it's best !
