The episode .........

Having three dogs can sometimes be an adventure.
Having two over the age of 11 years old makes that
adventure sometimes worrisome.  A few days ago one
of our 'pack' was a little off her game.  Not her playful
self and such.  So when we noticed she wasn't eating as
well as she normally did a trip to the vets was in order.
Of course she isn't the best traveler in the bunch so the
trip alone was a wrestling match but all and all she did ok.
I on the other hand didn't fare as well.  I was simply a
'Driving Miss Betsy' chauffeur.  I had no answers to his
many questions.  Last time she ate, did she drink water today
any change in her stool?  I think I flunked. I don't do well on
quizzes.  But after a brief exam it was determined she was
suffering from some kind of  digestive tract disorder so after
a couple shots and some antibiotic pills we were sent home.
Little did I know there was going to be a second quiz at
home !  I think I flunked that one too.  So after satisfying
the doggy mom's questions  we all settled down to a restful
evening of pampering the sick pooch.
After two days of not eating she was allowed to have food
this evening.  Off I went to the pet supply store for some kind
of food that is easy on the digestive tract.  Really ?   They make
that stuff?   Yes they do .. and much much more.  As I browsed
the food aisle looking for something that would fill the bill but
cost less than a surf and turf dinner for two I was amazed at what
is available for our canine friends.  I mean really.. everything from
steakhouse fillets to one called Brats & Tots.  Now that last one
looks like it would fit my budget.  But I settled (with the aid of a
sweet young well informed clerk) on a Salmon & Rice Entree for
sensitive stomachs.   Betsy had her first meal tonight and she still
wasn't very enthusiastic about eating. I think she's holding out for
the Brats& Tots.  We'll give her another day and if she isn't a ball
of fire we'll take her in for more tests and blood work.   I wonder
if I can get her covered on my insurance ?
