We've all heard them. Those old adages, wives tales, theories
or whatever you want to call them. Seems there's one to fit almost
every situation. Some people put a lot of faith in them but from
my personal experience....... ehhhh not so much.
Examples:
Fish are 'brain food'... I love fish, eat it all the time..... That's 1 down
Out of sight .. Out of mind. How many ways can I discredit that. 2 down
Crossword puzzles keep one's mind sharp... I do puzzles every day.. that's 3
An apple a day keeps the Doctor away... I love apples.. had two Doctor's
appointments this week.. Although if thrown hard enough an apple may
keep just about anyone away.. (for a while anyway) 4
A stitch in time saves nine... Doesn't apply to outdoorsmen. How many
times I've caught a small tear or such and repaired it only to have another
seam open up somewhere else. When gear is done.. it is done.. replace it
asap or carry a huge repair kit.. You'll need it !! is that 5 ?
Waste not .. want not ! I hate waste.. I save everything. I reuse and
re-purpose everything I can. I have eaten so many things that I have
cooked that I did not like simply because I refuse to waste food. BUT..
that has never curbed my desire to want. I have several lists of 'wants'
on my desk and Lord only know I haven't lost my want for food.. so
I'm guessing that 6 false ones.
I'm sure I'll think of more but for now that will suffice. It may be to
my advantage to think of ones that I agree with ! I'm thinking the list
would be a great deal shorter...............
