A fish out of water....

Try to imagine if you can. pulling a very successful Wall Street stockbroker or a CEO from a multi million dollar business out of his plush office one day and placing him (or her) in the center of a Florida Swamp or the middle of a desert or perhaps the top of a lush mountain forest.   At first they would perhaps be captivated by the views. smells. and textures of their new surroundings.  It would be something that would be totally new and exciting to them.  But in a short bit of time they would become 'A fish out of water'.  Not knowing what to do, not being comfortable in their new surroundings and wishing they were back in their more comfortable offices.

                        NOW...

Imagine the same thing in reverse !   Let's take this guy for instance....

And let's place him here .....
Beautiful digs...

Beautiful beaches....
Dressed alike family....

I too was taken in by the beauty for a bit.  Until I realized I had no ambition to swim with the dolphins. being kissed by a sea lion. snorkeling or swimming with the sharks in the ocean.  The one thing I looked forward to was visiting the Mayan Ruins which ended up being two hours away and an all day excursion.  And after standing in line for three hours in the airport and a two hour drive to the resort I didn't want to see the inside of another bus for a while.  After all it was a vsacation .. not a death march !
So everyone swam with dolphins.. kissed sea lions lounged on the beach and soaked up Mayan culture.  I strolled around the grounds, dipped in the pool, soaked in the hot tub, people watched in the main lobby while enjoying an excess of free margaritas, pina coladas and such, plus fine dining at the five really nice Restautant's at the resort.  (all-inclusive has its perks) lol
Was it a good trip?   Cost wise no.  Pleasurable for me?  not really.  Worth it to see my family have a great time and my Granddaughters have their best vacation ever ?   TOTALLY !
As for me I'm home and have already had a couple nights of woods and cricket time so I'll recover just fine.
Oh yea... Erin, myself and my Dil did
celebrate Erins birthday with new hats.
Ain't we special ?
