Fishin' Spots......
Every fisherman has a
favorite spot on just
about every body of
water they fish.
I thought I would start
a little series of some
of my favorite spots
each week at the places
that we fish.
Favorite spots can become favorites for many reasons. First and
foremost of course are fish. This spot at Tapan lake for example
has a small shallow shelf that runs out off of arocky bank that is
littered with small stumps. I have caught many many bass off of
this shoreline in the past although never any large fish..mostly
smaller 'buck' bass cruising the shoreline stumps. However there
are usually a few keeper bass mixed in to make it a worthwhile
stop.
Whenever I fish this lake I make this my second stop of the day.
Why? I'll explain.
All of our club tournaments are on Sunday.. seven in the morning
till three in the afternoon. This little church located just across
SR 250 from the lake starts about an hour before their services
start, broadcasting the organ music and hymns over speakers
outside the church.
Given my love for music I am drawn to this spot. I mean
where else can one fish a productive shoreline and be serenaded
by beautiful music while doing it. It also helps with concentration
and serves as a time of reflection because trust me... If I'm
fishing..I'm praying. I didn't make it down to my spot on time
this year because of the number of boats on the water and my
theory that bigger fish could be had in the upper reaches of the
lake (bust) so I don't know if the Church still does it or not.
But you can bet I won't miss it next time... Just in case.
