Lets start by saying I think I am a patient person.
I'm seldom in a rush (sometimes to a fault) and I never
try to hurry others to do thing for me. The question I
have is , If I am so laid back, what sort of time frame do
Doctors, hospitals and businesses adhere to ?
Lets start with Doctor appointments. Usually have to
be made months in advance..Usually charged a fee if you
cancel less than twenty four hours in advance.. Yet just this
week two doctors have called to cancel appointments
and of course that's at least another months delay... but don't
forget to come in a half hour before your appointment to do
needed paperwork ! I 've always wondered if that means a
half hour before the appointment time or the actual time they
see you, could be a huge difference there.
No we get to paperwork. How long does it take to fill out a
six question paper and sign it ? Four days and counting. And
how about returning a phone call requesting rehab dates ? I will
probably have another heart attack before I get that call. Don't
get me wrong.. I really do understand the busy schedules of these
people and I try my best to be patient , I just feel that if one's practice
or business has grown to a point where the staff can no longer
handle the load in a timely fashion then maybe it's time to increase
the staff. This probably comes from my lifelong union membership
and my hatred for bare bones job cutting for the sake of higher profits
I know first hand having been a pipe fitter for years and now being
a pipe fitter/millwright/welder/tester/motor operator/roofer/carpenter
for the same money. Yes I can do all these jobs... but only one at a time
and a lot slower than someone skilled in the trade. I'm thinking it is no
different than a receptionist/counselor/secretary/data entry person/janitor.
OK I'm done.. Doctors told me to be cautious of stress...little did they
know there what is causing it !!
