Let me start by saying that I'm sure every soul does have a good side.
I watch very little TV and when I do use it to kill a little time in the evening
I usually end up watching some crime shows like 48 hours or Cops etc.
Shows that are supposed to reflect real life situations. I know most of the
scenes are 'set-ups' but it does give you an idea of what go on in the streets
of the bigger cities. I think the thing I have the biggest problem with is the
casual 'That law doesn't pertain to me ' attitude of the people arrested .
I'm not talking ignorance of the law .. just plain ,outright disregard for it.
These drug dealers, prostitutes and muggers just have the opinion that that's
the way of life here in the city and your laws don't pertain to me.
My point is, it seems that this attitude has been carried up to the ranks
of the superstars as well. How many Sports, Movie and Music superstars
do we have to watch die because it's "OK" to take a hand full of prescription
drugs to relieve the pressure from "their hectic lives" (which I might add
they are getting paid millions of dollars for ) These stars have God given
talents that most of us would love to have even a fraction of, yet they chose
to live in a half stupor most of their lives almost numb to the very world they
claimed to have clawed there way to the top of. I'm sure the pressure of that
sort of life is tremendous. I'm sure the total lack of privacy is mind boggling
But I also know that just because your wealthy it doesn't give you the right
to take anything you want to make you forget those pressures. One can argue
that in most cases the culprits are legal, prescription drugs but we all know for
the right money one can purchase a doctor as easily as a new ink pen so that
argument doesn't wash with me. Does this make these fallen stars bad people?
No, I don't think so, weak people maybe, but not bad. I grieve for the talent
God gave them that was lost. But I sometimes wonder that if Janis, Jimmy,
Elvis, Michael and such were held to the same standards that we, as average
citizens are held to, if the world wouldn't still be enjoying their talents.
