Ever wonder why someone like myself would attempt
to make something they know very little about ? When I
was working I would start a little project in my spare time
and have fellow workers ask me, "Why don't you get the
carpenters to build that for you"? Again after buying a lathe
for home and attempting to make parts for a project friends
told me, "Get the machine shop to do that .. so & so is really
good at that sort of thing". I guess they will never know the
satisfaction of doing something themselves. My eyesight is
not the greatest but I am not blind. When I look at some of
my projects I see many flaws, quite a few 'shoulda's' and
even a couple of 'dang it's'. But ya know what ? There MY
dang it's and flaws ! I get so frustrated when I do something
stupid to mess up a part for a project but the flip side is I
seldom make the same mistake twice. ( of course some
screw-ups are too good to only make once)
My latest project is filled with oops's. Too many to mention
in fact but by golly it serves it's purpose when I'm sitting in
my camper in the evening with a little Crown on ice I can look
at it a laugh and say to myself "You really screwed that up
didn't ya " But I still got 'er done just the same. here's a
couple pics of the project. The challenge was 'repourpose junk'
That means ..Old 2X4's from the scrap pile, leftover stains
from other jobs, old sheet metal salvaged from work etc. only
cost was a can of spray paint By not buying new wood there
was a ton of time put into ripping the old poplar studs and
planing the slats to the proper thickness but I had this vision
and I wasn't going to be denied..lol Next time maybe I'll pull
out my wallet ... naaaa Not my style lol

Still no 'finished' photo but I'm afraid I may be too old to post by the time it's finished.  lol
Cut a few slats

                                                                 Throw on some stain
                                                                     Maybe a coat of Poly
                                                                 bend up some metal
Beat it up to make it look old
Of course poke some holes in it
Cover plates for front and ends
                                                                    Almost done
First of the corner pieces
                                                                       Front panel
'THEN' find out you used the wrong paint
and strip it all off and go plain .. 'cause
thats what you do when you goof up !
