I recently made a quote on my Face book wall that my
life was a little 'askew' from a normal persons life.
I thought I might give you readers a glimpse of what I
meant. This is just an ordinary day in my life. Nothing
out of the norm. For me anyway.
Ahh Wednesday. that means breakfast with the guys
at the local greasy spoon. Same breakfast that I order every
visit since I retired. EXCEPT today I'm served scrambled
instead of over easy and the waitress spills coffee down my
sleeve. That's OK I can live with that. Now it's out the
road to pick up my boat from winter storage. Opps the man
isn't there to unlock the door. A bit of running around and
I find him only to find out there is a giant blue bus blocking
my boat in the building AND it won't start. hmmm A couple
calls and I'm all set. Man comes and gets his bus, boat is
out, happy days are here again ! Truckin' down the road I
remember that the trailer plates are expired so I slide on into
the local BMV. Upon parking I notice that the sticker on the
boat also expired last month so in I march with a fist full of
twenties that I really really didn't want to part with. The office
isn't really bad this time.. pick a number and I'm only 4 people
behind. Not bad.. except the four in front of me are getting
everything from passports to I think marriage annulments because
it seems to be taking forever. Finally it's my turn. I present
my paperwork and am told.. We can do the trailer but you have
to have a past registration for the boat because they were taken
out of our computers this year. Ok don't panic.. I get the trailer
sticker and go to the boat to get the registration. To keep from
dropping my paperwork I wisely placed it on the passenger seat
of the truck while I removed the cover from the boat to get my
registration card. With this firmly in hand I remembered that my
drivers license is on the seat with my other paperwork.
What happens next is totally unbelievable I know, but you just
have to know me and my life to know it is the gospel truth. As I
opened the truck door a gust of wind came up and sucked
my trailer registration and sticker out of the truck, over the cab,
through the parking lot, across route 40, and the last I seen of it
over the guardrail and down into the woods on the other side !!
So I'm off in a dead run across the road dodging traffic leaping
the guardrail in a single bound into the weeds briers and such
searching for my lost sticker. Any idea how many McDonalds
French fry boxes are along those roads? Anyway I found the
sticker ,climb the hill cross the highway walk the parking lot to
the BMV and go in only to find there are now five people ahead
of me. I calmly wait my turn and when finished head home for
a much needed nap..
Oh yea.. did I mention that it started to pour down rain about
three hundred yards from my house. Yep I got to unhook the
boat in the rain.. a perfect ending to a perfect day!
I REST MY CASE !!!!
