I guess it was inevitable. After the up and down summer we had
I sort of expected an early fall. Our Summer ranged from periods of
intense heat to long periods of rain and damp conditions. There was
never any long stretches of just plain nice summer days. But that's
ok. I may whine a bit but I'm thankful for each and every day I get to
spend here in paradise
I love the fall, There is something about cool mornings that make
the afternoon sun almost feel like your own personal heat lamp.
I remember walking in the dark into the woods to go squirrel hunting
and sitting on a frosty log in the darkness waiting on the sun to rise.
Then as it came up you could watch the sun slowly melt the frost from
the trees and grasses until that magic moment when it reached the spot
where you were sitting and it's warmth simply engulfed you.
Ahh it's one of the finer moments I remember about hunting. I don't do
much small game hunting anymore but I may have to go out and see if
the feeling is as good as I remember. Maybe I'll hunt with a camera
this go-round.
I've camped the last few weekends as the weather cooled but I have to
admit the camper sort of takes the edge off of the night chill a lot better
than my trusty tent. But the crisp foggy mornings still feel great sitting
outside with a morning coffee watching the sun come up and the fog lift.
I'm sure this fall will have a good many warm days, maybe even some
hot ones but for right now I'm moving to my jeans, sweatshirts, jacket and
boot ensembles for my daily wardrobe planning.
After all I never really had the legs for shorts in the first place !
