Pleasant surprise .....

By now anyone that has read any of my Blog posts
knows that I don't always have the best of luck.  Maybe
it's just the fact that I sometimes dwell of the bad things
that happen and take the blessings for granted.   I do give
thanks daily for the good things that happen in my life
but they never seem to hit the front page of my blog.
That simply has to change.
Recently I was told that I needed cataract surgery.
My vision had become cloudy and my night vision was
making driving at night difficult.  Having worn glasses
since the third grade I opted to try the lasik laser surgery
to correct my vision while removing the cataracts in one
easy operation (well two actually).  Everyone in my
family has had it done over the years with great results.
Just the thought of waking up in the morning and not
reaching for my glasses first thing seemed like a dream.
I talked to a lot of people who had it done and they all
said the same thing.. they left the office with almost perfect
vision.. some said they were watching TV the same day.
Others said it took till the next morning but wow what a
difference.
Spring ahead to the day of my surgery.  After a lengthy
pre-op The surgery only took possibly fifteen minuets at
the most. I left the hospital blurry eyed and just a tad
uncomfortable in the sun but ready for the miracle to
transform.  Ahhh not so fast !  Ok.. by morning for sure.
Next morning.. no better.  Drat they broke my eyeball I
thought.. just very white blurry vision.  I resolved to give
it time.  Very little improvement the next morning but I
could see. My vision was a lot lighter and brighter but still
blurry.  I resolved myself that this was as good as it was
going to get and although I would not be glasses free I
was able to see a lot better as far as the cloudiness being
gone.  I was not happy but grateful for the improvement.
I guess like everything else in my life I had set my
expectations a bit too high and like most other times reality
had fell somewhat short.  But  on the fourth day I finally
got the results I had wished for ... clear vision.   I went for
my one week check-up today and was 20/20 vision in that
eye.   Yea !  Now to wait two weeks for the other eye and
pray for like results.  I have thanked God daily for this
blessing and for the skilled Doctors and machines that
perform this amazing surgery.  So I guess instead of harping
on the stumbling blocks in my life I need to focus on the
good things that happen..
