Eating right :
I often wondered why it was so difficult to eat 'right'.
It is so much easier to open a bag of chips and a Ho Ho
than it is to build a salad.   Since I've been eating more
salads and such lately I have developed a new respect for
the people that prepare and serve salads in the better restaurants.
Even if one buys the prepared salad mix in a bag there is
still the chopping on onions, radishes, and cukes.  Not to
mention the opening of the bacon bits, jalapenos,  cutting of
the tomatoes and such.  And then there's the never ending
search for a low carb, low fat, low sugar dressing that doesn't
taste like wallpaper paste.   And don't even consider croutons!
Although I did find some French's Crispy Jalapenos that add a
bit of crunch and are not too bad for ya .   Problem is by the
time I build my salad I'm too tired to eat !   (good thing maybe?)

On to bread.   Bread is not just a food... It is a necessity of life as
we know it.   Burgers wrapped in lettuce leaves or egg whites
are simply emergency fixes until we can obtain real bread.  I
have gone from probably six to eight slices of bread a day to
two.   Let me rephrase that.. two slices of bread substitute.
I really don't completely understand this complex carb stuff
but I did find that the sprouted grain breads do not spike my
blood sugar like the flour types so that's a good thing.  My
current breadlike material is Ezekiel 4.9 Flourless sprouted
Whole Grain bread.  It of course has to be kept frozen for some
odd reason which means one must either toast it or know an
hour ahead of time when one is going to get hungry.  Now if
you take the almost six dollars a loaf price and add the electricity
cost to toast it (alright I'm nit-picking )  it makes for a costly
sandwich.   I can understand the cost when you figure how much
work must go into making it.  The cost alone of the slicer that
is able to cut the loaf into tiny slivers (I mean slices) must be
huge.  And it's a miracle in itself that they have an oven hot
enough to bake it.  When placed in my toaster and toasted
twice is comes out warm but the color never changes. I'm
thinking it is made of the same material as the heat shield tiles
on the space shuttle except with crusts.  But it holds up the
bottom of my burger so that's a plus!  That is unless I decide
to have my two slices with my dippy eggs in the morning
in which case I a am SOL on my burger.....

Well enough for now.  I'll probably add more later.  Right now
it is going on two oclock and if I want to eat at five I have to start
building my salad and thawing my bread.   I wonder just how bad
a Big Mac and fries would be if nobody caught me eating it?.......
