Latest Rant and week in review.....

Let's start with my latest rant.. I'll think more clearly
if I get it off my chest early in the post.
I truly do try to shop locally and support shops in my
area.  I never use self checkouts. I go out of my way to try
to support the local vendors and their employees.  BUT..
It is getting harder and harder every day.  Today I went
searching for two simple things.. bees wax and unbleached
yellow corn grits.  First stop (against my better judgment)
was WalMart.  Strike one !  Discontinued  they're candle
supplies when they remodeled. so over to the food side I
go.. No yellow grits. In fact no grits except the instant ones.
It's not like I wanted the 'magic grits like on My cousin
Vinny or anything.. I just wanted grits that weren't soaked
in lye then bleached and partially cooked, dehydrated and
sealed in an air tight box to preserve them for a hundred
years. And so it went with three major grocery chains in
my area. Every store had the exact same products on the
shelf.  It's as if one truck delivers the same stuff to every
store.  As for the wax I know for a fact the local craft store
stocks it.  I was there two weeks ago but they were out at
the time.  They did have one one pound block for twenty
dollars but I only need a few ounces to make some sanding
paste for my lathe projects.   Plus they get a truck in every
Thursday so I should be good.  Wrong.. Still out of stock.
Ah ha.. I know.. JoAnns has a craft dept.  Wrong..
Discontinued all candles and wax when the new craft store
(that is out of it) opened.  So back I go to the original store
to pay twenty dollars for more bees wax than I will use in
my lifetime.
Now.. I have no grits.. I ran a quarter tank of gas out of
my truck.  I paid way too much money for way too much
beeswax than I wanted plus I had to run in and out of stores
all day in the rain.
So I come home overeat a dozen or so tacos because i'm
upset.. Set down at the computer and bring up Amazon.
Yellow stone ground Grits... 116 results.. a dozen different
manufactures.. Delivered in two days .. free shipping if I buy
two bags.
Bees wax..1 lb block $10.90   3lbs $26.99 free shipping in two days
Explain to me again why I go stand in line for what seems
like an hour to pay more and usually get half of what I'm
looking for?   Okay.. rant over.. I feel better now.

On to my weekly review..
Last (I hope) grass cutting almost done.  All of the sudden
large boom.. lots of smoke..Taste of oil in the air .. Yep Old
faithful gave up the ghost.  Threw the connecting rod out through
the side of the engine.  I do have a new tractor sitting in the shed
but old Betsy was my favorite.  She'll be missed.
Next day I'm on my computer looking for parts for my Generator
that decided to quit generating and pop.. Computer screen goes
black.  Now I really don't need the generator unless we lose power
so I put that on the back burner and go buy a new laptop.  When I
come home I find the garage door partially open.  Could it be?
yep.. more repairs needed.
I was at the point where everything I touched broke.  I had to pee
real bad but I was afraid to.
Of course as it usually does things straightened up as the week
went on and I settled into a rhythm.  It was a kinda hip hop.. but it
was a rhythm none the less.
Just tonight I think I figured out my problem.  My mind is
something like my old tractor.  It never gets a rest.  All day long
It's running at full speed.  At night It is in high gear all night
fabricating all of these strange dreams I'm having.  Even when I
take a bathroom break I pick up a crossword puzzle book just to
keep it at a fast idle (I know .. Too much information)  I think if
I just slow down and stare at the walls a bit more and quit over
working my equipment maybe I'll be better off and stop breaking
every thing I touch.  I certainly hope so.. cause I really have to pee !
