Ahhh the miracle of Kevlar.....
Developed by the military a while back this fantastic material has to have the strongest strength to weight ratio on anything known to man. It is used to make Stealth bombers .. bullet proof vests.. armor plating for vehicles and all sorts of super strong lightweight products. As with every new product it then made it's way into the public sector. Light weight hoods and body panels for race cars and all sorts of products where strong lightweight products were needed.
But like everything else They have overstepped their boundaries ! I mean really ? Kevlar cereal bags? and today I had to use titanium shears to open a cheese packet for my Mac & Cheese !! I even struggled opening a Ritz cracker packet the other day. They have to be using Kevlar impregnated plastic of some sort. And have you tried to open one of those bubble packed double AA battery packs lately ???? Get out the cutting torch ! I get it .. strong packaging is great. And necessary in some cases. But should you really need a power saw to open a candy bar ?
It's not about me.. I have the power tools and a wide assortment of sharp implements. I'll get by.. I think about the elderly and the physically impaired people that may not have access to laser cutters and milling machines to open their basic everyday needed packages. Stop the madness !! What good is freshness if we can't get to the product inside ? And don't even get me started on jar lids.. I've been joanzin' for a pickle for a week now and can't find a pipe wrench big enough to take the lid off of the jar. On second thought .. maybe this is the answer to my weight problem.
