Hollywood comes to town ! Well, kinda..
Since I'm off this week I decided to spend a morning in Bellaire Ohio where they are shooting the new Denzel Washington movie "Unstoppable" Not quite as exciting as I imagined it to be, but different non the less. Outside of a large presence of local police cars and people on every corner with walkie talkies the there wasn't much difference in town. Most of the shooting today centered around the train bridge at the south end of town. I did manage to go out on the old stone trestle and get a couple photos before I was asked to get off.. (should have known about that crazy law from a friends post) but pictures are not very good as I'm playing with a different camera plus i was rushed with what looked like a swat team running in my direction. (OK it was one young guy with a walkie talkie... still intimidating)
The trip was not wasted though as I stopped in Gulla's for a couple "Famous Gulla dogs" for lunch and a chat with a classmate that works there. She informed me that Denzel was riding around earlier.. but no sightings on my part.
I did get a few shots of some of the equipment around town and even some action shots of the actual shooting of the train and film chopper. I even figured out how to tape video on this camera ,although all of the action was done by the time I figured it out.. and it is of poor quality..It's a step in the right direction !
Cameras on the street................ Production company trucks in lot...........Film chopper moves in close...........
train returning for a re-take.............
Update.. Second day in Martins Ferry
Day two ... Went down to the mill today and got a couple shots even though it was only rehearsal. Different trains today. They only made a couple passes to check speed etc. but I did get to see the guy jump from the train to the truck although I was too far away to catch it on film.. I'll try to get better ..I promise.
Truck that stunt dbl jumps into ... Opps.. looks like it was unstoppable !!!
I really enjoyed this post - I recognize so much! Makes me a mite homesick. Very cool view from the tracks. How did you get up there? Denzel in the valley - who woulda thunk it?
