King James.....

Anyone that knows me knows I'm not a 'Pro Sport' nut. Oh I watch football and now and then a baseball game. We usually make a Pirate game or two each year (usually when they play the Braves or Indians) but that's about it.
I say this with caution because I don't want word to get out for fear of them revoking my 'man' card lol . I think my biggest problem with pro sports is the fact that the players sound like a singer warming up for an opera. "me..me ..me ..me ! What ever happened to loyalty?

Now before I go any further let me state.. I do understand free agency..salary caps...the need for stardom etc. What I have a problem with is the high school kid that makes no effort to toward their classes or any other social skills and that has a God given talent in some kind of sport being courted by major colleges around the country ad offered free ride scholarships ..etc for that
God given talent which in itself is an insult to us people still paying off student loans. But now comes the rub... After three years of courting.. coaching..and covering grades..when it comes time that this person can help this school maybe win a championship ..he opts to drop out and turn pro.. because that's where the money is. Thanks Alma Mater...sorry 'bout your luck !
And yes I do understand the college profits too from bigger draws to events while this kid was playing there but I'm talking loyalty here... shouldn't a person 'want' to help the school ?..not when there is money involved.

I do understand that the self proclaimed 'King James' situation is different.
It wasn't for the money (but then if I was worth millions It wouldn't be a draw for me either) It was about assembling a super team to bust all the records and win championships. LeBron James is a phenomenal player.. some say the best ever. He is great, although not being a basketball fan I can't really say that for
a fact but I have seen him play and he is a one man team. This boy grew up in Cleveland .. was raised in Cleveland.. was given a chance to play pro ball out
of high school for the Cavaliers, something that almost never happens, was billed as the savior of Cleveland and was offered a lot more money than he will get in Miami to play there and he said no. I need to win championships and crush records with our assembled 'super team'.... sorry chumps ! me...me...me.

I sometimes wonder how much is enough? be it money or fame. most of these
players have more money than they can ever spend...so much fame that they can't go out in public without an entourage of security, and still turn their back on the very ones that brought them to the dance for more of the same. I guess more is always better. I just wish I had a little more ability to understand !

One final note. Miami will win championships and break records with James and friends but just how tainted are those records going to be compared to
ones set by LOYAL players of yesteryear?
