The almighty Chili dog .

This is the story of my quest for a good meat

sauce to top the ever popular hot dog . I have tried

canned sauces...sauce mixes and even a few hundred

homemade attempts and nothing quite was 'just right'.

I don't care for tomato based types of sauce... plain

meat sauces almost always contain some sort of

'mystery meat'...and the gravy style sauces are, well

just too blah. So lately I have been asking around and

combining different ingredients in my mind and

today...maybe ..just maybe I may have hit on one that

I may be able to improve on and actually make edible !

Started off with good quality lean stew beef..browned

slightly and chopped fine in the food processor. A

goodly amount of chili powder..a can of spicy chili beans

pureed in the processor and just enough french onion

soup to acquire the right consistency. It's still simmering

but on the site sampling tastes promising. Maybe a tad

salty..time will tell.

Now... If I can find a nutritional bun that don't taste like

cardboard and a wiener that isn't made with mechanically

separated chickens and beef bye products, I may give it a try

later. If not I can always have it over french fries with some

grease laden artificial cheese sauce.

Mmmm Watch out arteries... here it comes !!!
