Dum-de-dum...

Oops .. Caught me !  Doing nothing. Even though I do
this a lot it's not very often I get caught .   Today was a fairly
fruitful day by my standards although most would say it was
pretty much a wasted day.  I was up and out early, breakfast
with friends, off to the grocery store for some 'storm supplies'
and back home by eleven AM.  Now normally that would call
for a short nap but I instead chose to stare blindly out the windows
and watch the rain fall and the snow melt.  Ahhh wash away
this nasty winter.  It has overstayed it's welcome.  As anyone that
has ever tried it can attest to, this makes for a long boring day.
Since they say an idle mind is the Devil's workshop I decided
to go search out a project in my own workshop instead.  I made
the mistake of watching some videos on flint knapping last week
and decided that is something I need to learn. (don't ask me to
explain my mind's inner workings) so as most things go one
needs to follow certain procedures before they start this learning
process.  First.. one needs the proper tools.  Basic as they are I
decide to make mine.  Well, hand tools need handles.  Home made
handles would be nice except I don't have a wood lathe to make
them.  BUT .. I do have a small metal lathe.  Let the transformation
begin.  A few saw cuts.. a few holes drilled .. a little machine work
and a handful of screws and wa la .  I have a useable (although
marginally so) wood lathe !   I roughly turn down one prototype handle
to prove to myself that it can be done, clean up a bit and head back
upstairs only to look out the window and see that the ground is white
again and the snow is falling like Christmas Eve.  Drat !!  See what happens
when you turn your back for an hour or so ?  So as usual,  I gave up..
made a pot of chili and settled down in front of this mini boob tube.
And so here I set.. doing nothing.  I have watched all of the you tube videos
I normally watch, made my allotted number of wise cracks to my F/B
friends and checked all my e-mails.  And that is where you came in ...
Too early to sleep... too late to start... It's 'vegetation' time !!!!!
