Let me start by saying I have never been an openly
religious person. Although my faith has always been
strong I was never very open about it. As sometimes
happens in the, shall we say, 'Golden years' of our lives
we become more open about our beliefs. Someone once
likened it to 'cramming for exams' but I think it is more
of a case of not worrying about what's cool or 'in' anymore.
In my case it took a couple health issues and several
friends to allow me to open up a bit. I'm far from perfect
of course but better.. and that's a start.
Take for instance prayer. Basically that is the reason for
this post. I have questions about my somewhat new
prayer buddy. Matthew 18:20 says .. For where two or
three are assembled in my name, there am I in the midst
of them. Knowing this sort of left a lingering thought in
my mind as to whether praying solo counted in the final
test scores. I say this jokingly of course because having
so many of my prayers answered over the years I know
my God hears my every whisper. BUT Just to be on the
safe side I've been starting my day each morning with my
new prayer buddy..He's small , black and very attentive.
Although he doesn't say anything, every morning he climbs
up on my chest and listens intently and sometimes cocks his
head from side to side as I give thanks for the new day and
ask God for his help and guidance and to forgive us when we
fall short. It has become a daily thing and I really believe
he looks forward to it. Now I don't know how much weight
pet prayers carry in heaven but It seems to help me a bit so
I see no harm in it.. Just Have to wait for the final report
card I guess to find out Then again either way .. I have no fears !
God created all animals so the good intentions will not go unnoticed by our wonderful Lord. Sometimes a silent prayer partner works out very well. I had one at a point that prayed for 45 minutes. I was saying to God silently It would be nice if she lost her voice once and awhile. ha ha Patti
