Been to see a Doctor recently ? Before you answer I
mean a real doctor. One that actually knows medicine and
can solve your problems.
I remember when going to the doctor meant you were
going to get relief from whatever ailed you. Today it means
you get a referral. Back in the day my family doctor cured
my colds, stitched my wounds, Gave me my shots, preformed
surgery and did anything else needed to fix the parts I had
broken while being a foolish kid. Where are those doctors now?
In the last couple years I have changed doctors a couple
times searching but the results are the same. Set up a appointment
with my family doctor, Quick exam.. off to the lab for blood work,
wait for results, back to doctor who then refers you to another
specialist more knowledgeable in that field which usually finds
something completely unrelated that needs attended to by yet
another specialist and on and on the circle goes. Since last year
I have seen two GP's , two cardiologists, an optometrist, a
ophthalmologist, a laser eye surgeon, a ear nose and throat
specialists, a podiatrist , a wound care specialists, two ER
practitioners And countless nurses, aides and custodians trying
to keep this old shell functioning. Something that used to be done
in a twelve by fourteen foot room over top of the drug store back
in the day. And the worse part is each one of them want to see you
back every three or four months. This interval must coincide with
with their quarterly tax payment or malpractice insurance payment
because they all use it! Oh how I miss Dr Dannenberg, Stinky cigar
breath and all....
