Just wondering.......

The little things.

When I was in the maintenance department
full time I once made the statement that when we had floods,
major breakdowns, or any major problems everyone jumped
in and solved it as one unit working together.. no problem
was too big. BUT...let someone leave coffee grounds in the
coffeemaker overnight and BAM..we were at each others
throats. It's the little things that get ya !
This is not going to be another work related rant. I'm just
using this as an justification of my (I guess) unorthodox
prayer rituals. Well not so much prayers as giving thanks.
I know everyone gives thanks (or should) in their own way
for their food ..family..health etc but a few years ago I
started a sort of off the wall thing that stuck with me.
I decided (remember how my mind works) that each day
I would give thanks for the little things in my life. Now I'm
not saying God ever gets bored with the standard fare..I'm
just offering him a little variety in his day. Maybe he's
amused..maybe he thinks it's trivial..that's something I
can't speak to. But I think he knows how much it means to
me and accepts it for what it is.. sincere gratitude.
Several come to mind. For instance each day as I arrive
at work and open my locker ,work the tumblers on the lock
and remove the hasp I thank him for the safe trip in and the
dexterity in my hands for doing this simple chore. Sounds
silly but once again ..it's the little things. There will be
many times throughout the day when I give a silent thanks for
anything from safely completing a job to giving me the
will to climb those extra few steps to the top of the tower.
So I say let the ACLU do what they think they must..
as long as I'm working in there..they will never ban prayer
from the mill.
So if I'm seen walking around with a lump on my head
and he's hearing.."Thank God It didn't hit me in the eye"
he may chuckle..but he will understand. He will probably
say.."that's not one of my big shots down there...It's just
one of those little things".
