The Slug

I know you have seen them. Slugs.....
small slow moving worm like creatures
that are found around the garden or yard.
Well that my friends is what I'm becoming.
Not so much in the worm like sense but in
the inactive, lazy as a river in the middle
of a drought sense if the word.

These last couple of months have taken their
toll. Twenty years ago I thrived on the type
of work I'm doing now...Structural repairs..
Overhead steam heater repairs and such.
I never gave a thought to climbing out on
scaffolding boards high in the air.
After all I had my harness on and was tied
off (usually..lol) to a secure cable or such.
Nowadays...ahhhh not so much.

With the mill in a slow time we have been
doing some major repairs and all of this
physical bologna is getting old.

Luckily I'm going back to my lab job next week.
I'm better with numbers and tests than I am
with torches and wrenches these days..lol

The work I can handle... I'm just having problems
motivating myself after work.
Ohh the napping part I have down to a science..
and I'm pretty good at the eating and playing
on the computer part. It's the everyday
work around the house that gives me trouble.
In fact I'm so good at napping I had two of them
tonight and it's still only 9 o'clock. I'm that good !

So time to set some goals.
Maybe tomorrow a little work on the train
layout. (baby steps) and next week start a couple
painting projects I've been putting off...start off easy...
walls...no ceilings.
Maybe by the time I finish we will be out of the
single digit temps and I'll get my springtime rush
and shed this slug -like way of life and become the
dynamo I once was !
