Normal day .... ....

Roadside rests .. gotta love 'em !  Today was the first
really nice day we have had this spring.  Temps in the low
sixties .. sun a blazing.  What more could one ask for
after such a harsh winter ?   Let's see .. How to spend it?
One buddy wants to go to the club .. wife wants to take
a ride and do some shopping .. I would like to give the
truck a much needed bath .. what to do .. what to do?
I know !   I'll spend 4 hours sitting in rest area on
I-70 !!  That would be fun !  (Scooby Doo flashback
music)
Back in time we go... back .. way back.  I'm in the
process of remodeling the kitchen.  I purchase new
flooring.. re-do drywall .. new trim .. paint .. and now
for the cabinets.  Decisions have to be made.  Do we
want a dishwasher? Wife really dislikes dishwashers but
it might be an asset later... so I buy all of the upper
cabinets and most of the base cabinets except for the
one that goes were the dishwasher 'might 'go  and a end
cabinet for when we get the finish size plus the dishwasher.
Ok we're moving right along.. uppers installed .. most of
kitchen done and bam... brick wall !  My heart stops.. my
job stops .. work on kitchen stops !  When we finally get
back on track, guess what?  Dealer no longer handles the
cabinets we purchased.  Dandy !  Almost a year I searched
trying to find matching base cabinets to no avail.  Then
last week I find a guy in Kentucky that sells them.  YEA!
Of course by now 'we' decided we need a matching pantry
too so I call the guy and low and behold he is making a trip
up this way today and is willing to deliver them free of charge.
This is working out great !  'BUT'  he can't take his truck into
rural areas so I will have to meet him somewhere along the
interstate.  No problem.  So this morning I call him to set up
a time and place to meet.  That done I hook up my trailer, and
get all of the necessary straps, pads ect. ready.  Meeting is set
for one o'clock at a rest area fifteen miles west of my house.
Of course me, not wanting to be late, leave a little early.
Mistake.  I get there at twelve thirty,  he calls at two and says
he's running a little late.  Then he calls again.  He needs fuel
so he thinks he might as well get a bite to eat when he stops.
Meanwhile I have Cheetos and Ice water.  Finally gets there
at four twenty and I get my cabinets.  In case your wondering
Fed-Ex has a lot more trucks on the road than UPS. twenty four
to eleven to be exact.  And don't even ask me how many trucks
simply pull in to those rest areas .. go into the sleeper area for a
couple minuets for Heaven only know what, and then take off
again.  They are probably afraid to leave their trucks alone in
the lot with a strange bearded guy in a pick-up sitting there.
The good news is I almost finished the crossword puzzle in the
Monday paper I bought out of the machine by mistake.  Of course
I did make up a few of the words.   Just another typical spring day
in my wonderful life !!!
