oddities...

NOTE:  As you read this post you will see references to
different photos.  You will not see those photos.  Why
you may ask  ?  It is simply because Blogger.com and
I are not getting along at the moment.  Blame me, but
I tried to reason with her (oops .. sexist I guess) and
she point blank refused to cooperate.  Well ok maybe
a little operator error is involved but I tried my best.
Since it's late and I have a meeting to attend this evening
I decided not to squabble and just list the pics at the bottom
of the post  (maybe)   It could be fun!  Sort of like a
match the photo to the story kind of deal.
************************************************

So I'm attracted to odd things.  Not odd people I should
add .. just odd things in general.
Today was spent cutting up a giant oak tree for firewood
at camp this summer.  Nothing odd about that I guess except
after cutting down and splitting this standing tree we found
about six to eight feet of it full of about eight to ten inches
of ice.  Now you tell me.. how cold does it have to be to
freeze water inside of a standing tree?  Pretty darn cold
would be my guess.  Never seen that before.
The next odd thing I found today was a small limb on a
treetop we were cleaning up. Seems a vine had wrapped
around it years ago and grown over.  I've seen this before
but this one was kind of neat.  So me being me, I saved it.
Not sure what it will be but I feel compelled to make
something out of it.  Not sure what , but something will
come to mind someday.
The third wooden wonder didn't come from today's trip.
It is located just under my tree stand that I use for deer
hunting.  Each year I sit in my stand and think about what
may have caused the deformity on this small tree.  It has a
hive like growth in the center of the trunk.  I tell everyone
it is my mailbox for the week of deer season .
The last picture is a little off topic in that it is not an
oddity .. but in fact pretty common occurrence with me.
Anybody who has read stories of my outdoors adventures
will just think...Yep that's him alright !
