I hate to say it but this fall and winter has been about
the most depressing time of my adult life. The last few months
have been filled with up and down weather, far more colds
and illnesses than I care to count and I won't even try to
explain the amount of tension, hate and bickering that this past
election has brought forth. Short of writing nasty posts to Mother
Nature there isn't much I can do about the weather. I do have
procedures planned later this month to help relieve some of my
health issues I hope. And as far as the election goes my head is sore
from beating it on a wall so other than a few 'spill over' posts
that I haven't quite been able to resist, I have pretty much gave up
on saving the world. I'll just work on saving myself. It seems to
me that the country is satisfied to go go down the path a small group
of people have chosen for them and although I pray I'm wrong I don't
think it is going to be a straight and narrow path.
Oh yea.. Where was I .. the Brighter side ! I almost forgot.
On the up side, This Topsy Turvy weather has saved me money on gas.
Being so nasty outside My days of running here and
there for little or no reason are gone. When I'm not
working on a project I spend my time looking out the
window ,coffee cup in hand and cussing the weather.
My truck sits for days on end without moving. In a
way this works out well because the money saved in
gas can be spent on heating the house and keeping
up the coffee supply.
The next bright side is the spare time that I am allotted
by not being forced to go frolic around in the woods and at camp.
(I know your picturing me frolicking around in the woods.. stop laughing)
Time put to good use (when motivated) to get caught up on projects started
in the past but never finished.
For instance a kitchen remodel started some
time ago. Just the other day I remarked
"I could finish that project in two days ..no
sweat" After all everything is bought and paid
for.. just some assembly required.
That was a week and a half and over a thousand
dollars ago and I'm still waiting
for 'special order' parts to come in. I should
have known better.....
Sometime finding the bright side of a situation come in a disguised form.
For instance on Face Book I became thoroughly disgusted at the everyday
fighting and bickering over political posts daily. But the truth be known I love
my friends and was finding myself bickering with people I am very fond of.
I refuse to unfriend them because of our different views but I was eating me up
reading their posts every day. Then out of nowhere it hit me. I don't have to
block them.. I simply need to block the pages they post from. Ya see I have no
problem with someone posting their opinion. I do have a problem with people
posting pages from biased right or left wing pages that they post as Gospel without
ever looking to see if the information is swayed or simply untrue. All of the sudden
these people that were aggravating me are doing me a great favor. I simply block
the page that posts the article they shared. Of course the're are thousands of
them but through sheer diligence I'm getting it dwindled down.. And not a moment
too soon I might add. And the upside is if my friends ever post a civil message I
still get it .. It's a win ..win.
So I guess I'm saying look for the good in everything. You may have to dig a little
to find it but there is usually good to be found if you dig deep enough!
