Alright ..So I fibbed about the lollipops. We have had
a couple days of sunshine though, and more than enough
opportunities for rainbows this past weekend. Made the
most of the good weather with two days of trail riding.
The woods are absolutely beautiful in the springtime.
Since most of the underbrush have not yet taken over the
more open woods They look almost like green carpet. I should
have taken pictures but I was content to just shut off the bike
a few times and drink it all in. I can be selfish that way at
times. I guess I wasn't in the mood to share just yet. Maybe
a few more nice days will change my attitude.
I do have to do something about the mattress in that camper
though. Not sleeping well for three nights and riding rough
trails two days in a row makes for some painful uncomfortable
times. Ohh to be twenty five again !
No Morels yet although some say they have found a few.
Plenty of Ramps though and they're not particularly strong when
harvested early like this. Going back out in a couple days, maybe
I'll find a few mushrooms and ramps for those steaks I have in the
freezer. That might just make me smile a little bit. (If I remember how)
I'm sure it will come back to me. I came really close to smiling
this weekend finding a giant patch of Blue Bells I think they're called.
I didn't get a picture of that particular patch but later on the trail
I snapped a quickie of a small bunch just out of guilt. It was nice
to just sit in the quiet woods and reflect on the times my mother would
take us kids up in the woods to pick wildflowers. Who ever said you
can't go home? I do it all the time in my mind. I'll leave ya'll with a
pic and a promise that I'll take a camera along next time (with a memory
card in it this time) and try to share a little nature.
I too have wonderful memories of that ol' hillside in the spring. Those little white flowers, violets...and the excitement of finding an actual jack-in-the-pulpit! Guess it wasn't really that bad growing up "poor" :):) I'm with you on the joy of putting this last winter behind us!
