Full week of single digit temps..brisk winds and dark
overcast days. Getting ready to launch into survival mode.
First step... Graduate from Keurig K-cup coffee maker to
Bunn. Keurig has it's good points but coffee is not quite
hot enough for my taste once cold creamer is added plus
I like having replacement coffee available without waiting.
Both makers sit side by side on the coffee bar so it's an easy
transition. Forecast is for snow accumulation tonight so
step two may go into effect over the weekend.. that being
more soups and stews and such. Hearty belly warming
meals that last for days. Plus possibly some homemade
bread and rolls for the added bonus of heating up the kitchen
while baking. Looking like I may have to delay that New
Years diet a bit until the weather breaks. If all else fails I
may even start a fire in the fireplace. I love a fire but it does
take some minding plus carrying in wood and such so we don't
burn too often. I do keep a stack of nice dry seasoned hardwood
on hand for such occasions though. Whatever Mother Nature
dishes out I can assure you we will get through it... heck it may
even be fun. Maybe I'll get a chance to try out some of my
eighteenth century recipes I've been reading about. What better
chance than with a captive audience !!! ...........................
